Closing the Quality Gap Series: Bundled Payment: Effects on Health Care Spending and Quality

The researchers reviewed 58 studies in which Medicare providers recieved bundled payments. They sought to determine the effect of the bundled payment methodology on health care spending, utilization, and health care quality. They found that bundled payments were associated with reductions in health care spending and utilization, but inconsistent effects on quality measures.
